It’s Only Artificial Intelligence: What Could Go Wrong!

Technology is meant to be here to make our lives easier, but not to the point of taking away jobs.
This seems to defeat the purpose in the first place.
Go into any supermarket and see how few checkouts have people operating them. The self-service tills are taking over faster by the day.
Where are the staff whose jobs the machines are taking over?
Are there more staff on the floor? I can’t say I’ve noticed an increase.
Try finding a human to ask where the vegan diet two litre kegs of low calorie Elderflower and Rosehip cordial is, at 3:30 am?
I promise you, it’s not easy!
But I digress. The robotisation of modern life is changing at a pace so fast, someone like me has real problems keeping up. Ok, let’s be honest, I’ll never catch up! But even younger people than me, who consider themselves au fait with changing technology, are telling me it’s moving too fast, too soon.
There is a fine line between helpful changes and something which could be detrimental to society as a whole. I’m not even sure if the people who are at the forefront of this tidal wave, know what will be the likely outcome.
This is particularly worrying in the field of AI, artificial intelligence, not as I first thought, artificial insemination. Apparently the two are completely different subjects!
This is great when it’s still under human control, but there is always going to be the possibility of something going wrong, and this technology going rogue. No one seems to know what would happen in that scenario.
The leap in science from the original Sinclair ZX, with all the squeaks and squeals, to the massive amount of data which can be stored on one computer chip.
I’m writing this on a £79: 99 DOOGEE smartphone, which is working better than the far more expensive top of the range Sony which is languishing at the phone hospital in Kent, after having a stroke at the advanced age of one!
So within one year, something which was touted to me as the Coyote’s Cojones, is now surpassed by a product around a fifth of the price. It’s quite unbelievable.
If this is just a fragment of the speed of change, what is just around the corner for us?
Some people who have been in positions of power in high-tech companies, are actually afraid of the next wave of technological advances.
There are predictions of civil unrest as people who have been promised better wages and higher standards of living, are let down by the people who run these companies and make these promises.
Make no mistake, there will be massive losses of employment. Especially in the least developed countries, which do not have the resources to find other jobs for the people who lose out.
We already see signs of the people at the top, making provision for escaping if and when the shit officially hits the fan.
Antarctica has been visited by some very unusual “tourists” recently.
Others are buying up land in remote parts of the world, and making themselves self sufficient. As you know, vast wealth allows for this type of plan, while the rest of us are left to our own devices.
So, if the very people who are inventing this new technology are making escape plans, it’s not going to be much of a fiesta for the rest of us.
Strangely the people who have been at the cutting edge of discovery and have made billions of dollars from these discoveries, have apparently lacked the ability to see where this might end. Or have they?
Consider this; If, as I’ve been told, there is a plan for mass depopulation, is this technology being used to eradicate multi-millions of people, just so the few can live on the remaining resources?
Now there’s a chilling thought!
