Gingrich Discusses Russia & Ukraine from CNN, the Home of Wiped Out Politicians

Newt Gingrich, former GOP presidential candidate and Speaker of the House, dusted off the old history textbooks and regained his status as America’s sloppiest professor by writing a short and sweet column at CNN about the 100th anniversary of World War I and how it parallels what is today happening in the Ukraine, as Russian and NATO forces escalate the tension.

Newt_Gingrich_at_Book_SigningIt is surprising that anybody still listens to Newt after he was found stumbling along Old US Route 50 with one shoe missing and the other untied and mawkishly scuffed. His gray sock, according to the police report, was stretched out and hanging from his ankle. Like a miniature elephant ear it flopped with every heavy step taken by the dejected Republican intellectual.

No wonder CNN picked him up and gave him a position. That’s what they do with ex-CIA officials and wiped out political candidates. But that was 2012.

Those lousy days of depression and wandering aimlessly, and even dining and dashing from McDonald’s at the height of his multimillion dollar campaign debt are long behind Newt Gingrich. He no longer considers himself yet another discarded politician. That might have been the worst part for Newt, because despite his superior intellect and reasoning skills, America couldn’t stand him.

He’s back to where he shines brightest. Superior analysis of the world’s events. A geopolitical mastermind.

Gingrich breaks down the perilous situation in Ukraine and calls for escalating the tension between NATO and Putin by shipping Kevlar vests, night vision equipment, and aviation fuel, against the advice of General Wesley Clark.

He blames Putin and depicts him rather cartoonishly as the bad guy, but doesn’t criticize NATO for trying to entrap Russia like a bunch of mountain hillbillies setting flame to the local landscape to draw out and erect a wire cage around a desperate and sentient Bigfoot without the American public figuring it out.

Why Bigfoot? you might ask. This is sounding too much like Gingrich’s plan to put a mirror on the moon so we can angle it just right and blind the Chinese, of which the latter government is already producing ultra-dark glasses capable of blocking out the sharpest light rays known to man.

Well, why not Bigfoot then? Watch five minutes of CNN coverage and you’ll see why the American public is suspicious, skeptical, andVladimir_Putin_beefcake frightened by Russia. They are depicted as an elusive, dangerous, and misunderstood creature that in some forms looks like us in the civilized Western world, but not really. Too much hair. Too much grit. Not coherent nor understandable. When really that’s not true.

Dear Dirty America has also played a slight role in this, as we helped propagate the rumor that in every Russian hotel room a photo of a shirtless Vladimir Putin was mounted over the bed. John Kerry had to explain that one away, to which he apologized to the Kremlin by saying, “Americans are gullible, that is what you don’t understand.”

Putin and Russia are making decisions for their people and the sustainability of their civilization like anybody would, especially when hampered and harried from all directions. They want a thriving economy. They want allies.

Gingrich also does not acknowledge that NATO are the dark knights behind establishing what Mike Whitney over at Counterpunch calls a “defacto tollbooth”:

The overriding goal of US policy in Ukraine is to stop the further economic integration of Asia and Europe. That’s what the fracas is really all about. The United States wants to control the flow of energy from East to West, it wants to establish a de facto tollbooth between the continents, it wants to ensure that those deals are transacted in US dollars and recycled into US Treasuries, and it wants to situate itself between the two most prosperous markets of the next century. Anyone who has even the sketchiest knowledge of US foreign policy– particularly as it relates to Washington’s “pivot to Asia”– knows this is so. The US is determined to play a dominant role in Eurasia in the years ahead. Wreaking havoc in Ukraine is a central part of that plan. (Is Putin Being Lured Into A Trap? — bold emphasis mine)

Shall we support NATO’s perpetual efforts to constrict Russia and cut them off from the rest of the world by making Ukraine an EU member and building missile and military bases that will be used to further entrench Iran and Russia and put them in defensive mode while chipping away at their strength.

Newt is right about one thing. A clumsy overreaction to this Ukraine-Russia affair could set off a string of events that will rock the world into a nightmare that nobody with an ounce of sanity wishes to see in his or her lifetime.
