UK Politics Verging on Insanity: A country divided by greed and stupidity

UK Politics Verging on Insanity: A country divided by greed and stupidity

The political scene in the UK at the moment is verging on insanity.

And in the midst of the madness of the Conservative Party leadership contest, the electoral meltdown of the Labour Party, the rise of the Brexit Party, and the renaissance of Liberal Democrats, we also had the State Visit of the President of the United States.

It’s almost impossible to keep track of the positions of the various players in this farce which is the Conservative leadership contest.

Apparently there are now thirteen, yes thirteen contenders for this, the most poisoned of political chalices.

The contenders for the post are now in an insane race to confess to any minor personal aberration they have had in the past. Apparently all of them took illegal substances at some point in the past.

I’m shocked, shocked I tell you. Drugs? Who would have thought so?

These are people who are closer to my age than to the youth of today, so this revelation does not come as a huge surprise. The majority of people who grew up in the 60’s or 70’s have tried drugs at one time or another.

But I think serial confession just looks like bandwagon jumping. There is little honour to be found in politicians on a good day, so this smacks of political desperation.

I have lost track of the present number of people in the leadership race, but I think a couple have jumped out before they were humiliated in a vote.

If it goes the way I think it will, the last two standing should be Boris Johnson and Michael Gove. I suppose someone might come out of left field and surprise us, but by the look of the candidates, it would be something of a miracle.

There is a serious lack of political talent in the Conservative ranks. In fact there’s a serious dearth of talent across the political spectrum. Unfortunately this appears to be the same the world over.

The average person either doesn’t get a chance to climb the slippery political pole, because the majority of modern politicians are bred in universities to fill the spaces in most of the political parties. If these people are the best we can turn out, God help us in the future.

In Scotland, the SNP, under the leadership of the infallible Mother Sturgeon, is mired by political infighting and very public court cases.

There is a smell of desperation and rot emanating from the party, and there are attempts at deflection from the obvious disaster looming large in the near future.

The latest wheeze is an argument with Ireland over a large rock and who can fish in the vicinity of this rock, imaginatively named Rockall. It kind of sums up the futility and pointlessness of the SNP administration. This is not a devolved matter, so shouting by Mother Sturgeon is just that. Taking her cult knuckle dragger’s minds off all the legal issues and court cases.

Alex Salmond is due in court to face more than ten charges of a sexual nature, related to his time in office.

A recent case of embezzlement has seen ex SNP MP, Natalie McGarry imprisoned for eighteen months. The money was taken from various charities in which she was treasurer.

This year will probably see the SNP split between those who support Alex Salmond, and those who back Mother Sturgeon. Fish wars indeed.

Meanwhile, the Trump State visit was marked by protests from people who appear at every mass rally in which they think they will be able to cause maximum disruption and mess. The climate change protests left behind tons of garbage, but the irony of this appeared to be lost on the delicate wee souls.

Even on the day after Trump had left for Ireland, the protesters were back on the streets of London, proving they are either there for their own agenda or they are just really really stupid. I’m learning towards stupidity.

The political situation in the UK is a shambles. Brexit hasn’t happened yet, and if I know anything, it will not happen anytime soon, if ever.

Whoever “wins” the race to be the the next Prime Minister and leader of the Conservative Party, might as well write their letter of resignation before they sit behind the desk.

There is nothing they can do to change the minds of the awkward muppets masquerading as politicians in Westminster.

It’s not going to end well.

Likewise, the rotting corpse of the SNP administration. It will stagger on like a bad version of “Weekend at Bernie’s”, propped up by the Murrells until they have sucked the last penny out of it, prior to leaving for something better. Leaving behind a party torn apart by greed and stupidity, and a country divided forever by bigotry and hatred.

Not much of a legacy for Mother Sturgeon, but she will be comforted, like Tony Blair, by the money for which she sold her soul.

She has never cared for Scotland, only her own ego and bank balance.

There we see British politics, dying on its arse and no one to administer first aid.
