Perverse & Terrible Ways to Kill Innocent People
Los Angeles
The hypocrisy:
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton urged Pakistan to do more in the fight against global terrorism Tuesday, saying that the latest plot in Yemen shows that extremists continue to devise more “perverse and terrible ways to kill innocent people.”
Perverse ways of killing innocent people? Whatever does Clinton mean by that? Is this perverse:
…the UK-based Bureau of Investigative Journalism the group that keeps the best count of casualties from U.S. drone strikes in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia. According to its figures, since 2004, U.S. has killed between about 2,500-3,000 people in Pakistan. Of those, between 479 and 811 were civilians, 174 of them children.
Unmanned flying vehicles firing missiles? Robots bombing residential areas overseas really takes the human touch out of it. Is that perverse enough to be extremist? Or what about:
The video showed U.S. firepower on brutal display, this time from the gunsight of an AH-64 Apache helicopter, as the crew converses casually about those they are about to kill. It appears to show the pilots mistakenly identifying a man carrying a camera — 22-year-old Reuters photographer Namir Noor-Eldeen, along with his driver, Saeed Chmagh, 40 — as armed insurgents, and then blowing them and 10 others to smithereens in July 2007.
Accidentally wiping out an entire family seems pretty perverse:
The American military claimed responsibility and expressed regret for an airstrike that mistakenly killed six members of a family in southwestern Afghanistan.
And, we know US troops beat and killed innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan, just to get their “first kills” or for laughs:
US veterans gathered in Maryland this past weekend to testify at Winter Soldier, an eyewitness indictment of atrocities committed by US troops during the ongoing occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldiers spoke of free-fire zones, the shootings and beatings of innocent civilians, racism at the highest levels of the military, sexual harassment and assault within the military, and the torturing of prisoners. While the corporate media ignored the story….
Maybe Clinton should work with pimp mafioso Leon Panetta to clean house in our own military first before sending them overseas to stop the other perverse civilian killers. I’m sick of the hypocrisy, and I’ve barely touched upon it here. One million Iraqis perished during our latest invasion. One million. For 9/11. They had nothing to do with it. And again, sadly, that’s only the beginning of the story. The drone strikes take out innocent people in Somalia, Yemen, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.
That’s twisted. Perverse. Another set of unwashable stains on our American flag. You can thank Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, George Bush Sr and Jr, Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney. The list goes on.
