A Guy Named Thomas Jefferson

Jefferson helped draft the Declaration of Independence. And now he’s prowling the White House because a brood of multinational corporations and banks have usurped America’s government. Since Americans only rifle through the Declaration once a year or so, it’s important to remind folks how important that statement is, and what it declares.
Here’s a passage you’ve probably read before:
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
And then, there’s the opening of the document:
When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
Jefferson goes on to list the grievances against the King of Great Britain, and why the rebels were being impelled to separate themselves from the tyranny. Find the full document here.
Lastly, Jefferson eerily foresees the corporate takeover of our United States, when he wrote,
If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money,
first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them (around the banks), will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.
