Not that most Americans know much about raising the debt ceiling or Washington’s obsession with cutting the massive deficit, but when America has a hunch, boy, they feel it in their guts. That gut feeling plagues every Kardashian reality TV show, and that negative hunch can make even McDonald’s taste bad.
A Gallup Poll recently reflected this visceral rumbling in a new survey:
A plurality of Americans (41%) say the debt ceiling agreement will make the economy worse, more than twice the percentage who think it will make the economy better (17%). One in three do not believe it will have much effect on the economy.
