Dear Dirty America

I don’t know how many articles I’ve started writing about the GOP’s constant push to defund and eliminate Obamacare, and I can’t count the false starts I’ve had trying to figure out how to weigh the pros and cons of the Affordable Care Act, and decide just how beneficial or detrimental it’s going to be to have a government healthcare system in place that’s been written by lobbyists from Big Pharma, the major healthcare insurance companies, and the major banks.

There’s just no way to get a grasp on the whole situation. The Onion nailed it best with their headline, “Man Who Understands 8% of Obamacare Vigorously Defends It From Man Who Understands 5%”.

The goddamned Obamacare bill is 2300 pages long. And that’s not like 2300 pages of David Foster Wallace’s imaginative writing. It’s a teeming mass of phrases bloated with jargon, unnecessary words, and legalese to assuage and promote every healthcare special interest group in the nation.

Either way, I could puke from all the dramatic coverage of booze-soaked congresspeople strutting up and down the halls of Congress. I’m sick of the whole lot and regard the president, his advisers, his czars, and all of Congress as valuable and reliable as the colonies of cockroaches who thrive inside the dark places of apartment buildings, restaurants, and hotels.

Congress, like gnarly insects and obscenely dangerous people and animals, remind us that no matter how beautiful life can be, we will always have to contend with an underbelly of degradation and filth that seeks to survive only to further its own causes and fulfill its insatiable greedy desires.
