Mexico’s President Blames Freely Sold US Guns, Doesn’t Mention Fast & Furious

Mexico’s president pleaded to US officials to stop gun trafficking over the border. Here is his statement, from CNN:

“The criminals have become more and more vicious in their eagerness to spark fear and anxiety in society,” President Felipe Calderon said. “One of the main factors that allows criminals to strengthen themselves is the unlimited access to high-powered weapons, which are sold freely, and also indiscriminately, in the United States of America.”

Speaking in Ciudad Juarez, the border city across from El Paso, Texas, that has become Mexico’s murder capital, Calderon said a dramatic increase in violence in Mexico was directly connected with the 2004 expiration of the U.S. assault weapons ban.

The message was familiar. The Mexican president has asked U.S. lawmakers to renew the ban on assault weapons before, most notably in a 2010 speech to the U.S. Congress.

While outlawing high-powered assault weapons in America may not be a bad idea, Mexico’s president didn’t mention what is at the heart of the problem: the Obama administration’s “Fast and Furious” scandal. Mike Adams writes:

It is now a widely-reported fact that under the Obama administration, U.S. federal agents actively placed over 30,000 fully-functional weapons into the hands of Mexican drug gangs, then halted all surveillance and tracking activities of where those weapons were going.

This is not a conspiracy theory, nor a piece of fiction. It is now an openly-admitted fact that this was pulled off by the BATFE (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, more commonly called “ATF”) under orders fromWashington. The program was called “Fast and Furious.”

Ironically, Calderon went on to praise the Obama administration for their efforts to ban the sale of assault rifles in the US:

Calderon praised U.S. President Barack Obama’s efforts to deal with the “very sensitive issue” of assault weapons, noting that officials in his administration had done more than previous leaders to investigate and block illegal weapons trafficking to Mexico.

The administration did a great job blocking illegal weapons from entering Mexico, except those 30,000 gifted directly to Mexican drug gangs. The US might be freely selling too many assault rifles to Mexico, but there’s no better way than shipping them directly into Mexico with White House approval.

We have an illegitimate government, populated with criminals and monsters and inhumane hacks. It’s time to rise above the bullshit and get a breath of fresh air. Educate yourself. Acknowledge your power and ability to speak out.
