BRADLEY MASON HAMLIN

for Richard William Hamlin

He beat
12 out of 18 felony
charges …

Not bad,
if it weren’t for that
“torture” thing

Life sentence
+ extra time awaits
but, he says,
KFC visits the prison
once or twice
a year

so at least you can get
a bucket

They also sell
prison
TVs

so reality of the outside
will always
be
there

but no conjugal visits
for a “lifer,”
grim …

We used to
play with Hot Wheels
racing down
the long orange track
liked to talk
long into the night
about the Atom
Teen Titans
and Green Lantern

GI Joes
and betting quarters
on 70’s NFL football games

Greg Brady
the Fonz
Six-Million Dollar Man
the Road Runner & Wiley E. Coyote

all bow their heads
in silence.
