Why No Drone Strikes on Iraq’s ISIS?

Why No Drone Strikes on Iraq’s ISIS?

Although they are being considered, the Obama administration has not laid out any firm plans to launch the much dreaded drone attack on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants who are marching almost unabated throughout the northern towns of Iraq.

While there has been no end to predator drone strikes on villages and marketplaces in Afghanistan, and apartment complexes in Pakistan, the president has taken a noticeable pause in setting forth the unmanned aerial vehicles to shoot Hellfire missiles at the marauding bands of ISIS, or what is being called Al Qaeda 3.0.

Critics are confounded as to why. Is the president trying to respect the sovereignty of Iraq? Why wouldn’t the Obama camp and the CIA take the opportunity when hundreds of armed ISIS militants are lining up in the streets, unprotected? It’s a wide open shot. If ever there were a time….

As exiled cultural philosopher Hubert Humdinger casually noted about the lack of drone strikes in Iraq, “There hasn’t been enough women and children around yet to make it worthwhile.”

Meanwhile, Tony Blair, the former Prime Minister of Britain who assisted the Bush administration in invading Iraq in 2003 that resulted in the deaths of over 4,500 coalition troops, and around 1 million Iraqis, seemed to forget which world leaders launched the decade long bloody quagmire, toppled the Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, sparked endless sectarian violence, plunged the nation into poverty and without electricity and clean drinking water, and then after ten years simply pulled all the troops and left a vacuum so huge that a group so extreme that the regular Al Qaeda kicked them out has swarmed in and taken over major swaths of the region, reminded his fellow British and American people,

“We have to liberate ourselves from the notion that ‘we’ have caused this. We haven’t.”

The exiled cultural philosopher had a quip for Blair as well when he said, “And the American and British peoples need to liberate themselves by lugging out the old guillotine once again and dispatching those who put the world in this mess in the first place. In fact, we have so little time to accomplish this, there won’t be time enough to dust off the blade first.”

Note: Dear Dirty America does not, necessarily, endorse Humdinger’s unorthodox opinions, however often it seems to print them.
