Praying for A Terrorist Attack: Order Out of Chaos, or The American People Are Waking Up

Praying for A Terrorist Attack: Order Out of Chaos, or The American People Are Waking Up

Lindsey Graham is warning America that if we don’t bomb Syria, America very well might get nuked. That nuclear device won’t be delivered on the edge of a missile zipping through the atmosphere, but instead riding heavy and unknown in the guts of a ship. The nuclear bomb, sent by a Syrian / Iranian tag team effort, will, according to Graham, explode in a Charleston, SC, or New York harbor.

But what do you expect these desperate bastards to say to a growing skeptical, irritated American public?

With Congress poised to assertively vote down the frantic military strike peddled by the president and his secretaries, you might wonder if somewhere deep in their darkened madcap souls, neoconservatives and the Obama administration and its handlers are aching for a terrorist attack, like a grizzled farmer with parched and cracked lips casting one last prayer for a substantive rain shower to nourish the deadened seeds he’s wholeheartedly invested in.

Praying for a terrorist attack might sound outlandishly pessimistic to some, but take another look at John Kerry sliding his dry tongue over his sticky lips and staring back like Frankenstein’s monster at the senators asking questions about why there needs to be a military intervention in Syria, especially since the risks involve a total fallout with Iran, Russia, and China. Or, in other words, a regional or world conflict.

And yet, Kerry persists like a man who’s been told to sell that goddamned strike on Syria, or else his keepers will collect a pound of flesh and his last testicle.

At this gloomy stage in our nation’s history, our unpopular leaders and their failing institutions are desperate for support, whether it be genuine or fear-based, as they suffer a social exile amid colossal public disapproval for not only Congress, but the president, his shitty job on a depressed economy, his perpetual lies about the surveillance society in which we are ensnared, and his war-is-peace badgering.

If the Syria distraction had gone over well, Americans might have stood behind the president and cheered for another round of bombs from the good guys. But that’s not the case, finally. The public was burnt by the Iraq scandal. Americans seem sick of invasion and Washington’s unchecked aggression. It’s a rare moment of clarity within our terror-obsessed society.

But everybody knows a terrorist attack whips the citizens back into shape. A terrorist strike grants our leaders a crescendo of public support and casts doubt on every government skeptic. The NSA will gain credence, possibly even reaching a savior status.

There is nothing like a dirty bomb in Times Square or Chicago to rally the rebellious American public back in order. Nothing like an Al-Qaeda surface-to-air missile taking down an airliner to spike approval ratings. Nothing like a detonated bio-weapon silently lurking throughout the NYC subway system to put the final nail in the freedom and liberty coffin.

It’s a dangerous time in America. The awakening seems to be happening. The public is getting rambunctious, demanding their rights and liberties which, in many cases, don’t exist anymore and surely won’t be coming back as technology advances, complex surveillance systems continue to be installed, and the US govt grows in military might.

Not only are the people out of line, they have begun denouncing dubious proposals for obscene military strikes and are even hailing outlaw heroes like Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning. This will encourage other whistle blowers to speak up, no matter how hard the despised Obama administration clamps down on them, as public support starts to swell. After all, truth is catchy. It’s the best story out there and people have had a taste and want more.

So you see where the trouble comes into play for the leaders elected by the establishment. As soon as the majority of Americans firmly grasp that voting Democrat or Republican will not solve the nation’s issues nor will it reinstate their Bill of Rights, the trillions of American tax dollars stuffed into national security programs, defense contracts, mercenary groups, mega surveillance systems, domestic military equipment for police, the military industrial complex, and Wall Street will be threatened.

What if Congress tried again to defund the NSA? What if Congress continues to hear their constituents oppose military strikes?

Nothing short of another new Pearl Harbor / 911 event will slam these American folks back to their shattered reality and in full fear once again of bin Laden behind every bush or in their neighbor’s underwear at the airport.

If you think this is outlandish, you might take a peek at the neoconservative think tank called Project for the New American Century (or, PNAC for short). By their estimations, a terrorist attack or a major catastrophe can be a positive, transforming event if used properly by the governing body, because without it, an American global empire is not possible. Maintaining “international order” is not possible without a catalyst prompting overwhelming American support in building a global missile defense system and controlling space and cyberspace, as well as ‘preeminent’ airstrikes and invasions of sovereign nations deemed out of line with US, neoconservative global interests.

The non-profit organization, created by William Kristol and Robert Kagan, was crucial in using the tragedy of 9/11, through Bush administration rockstars like Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, to exploit the American people, their tax dollars, and to justify ever-expanding the nation’s military to become a formidable world governing force.

The scariest part? These fools are behind schedule. They were going to knock out seven Middle East regimes in five years, according to General Wesley Clark, however, Iraq turned into a quagmire, and now the president can’t persuade the public to begin dismantling the Assad regime. He had his way with Libya. The major goal is to surround and swallow Iran and get a stranglehold on the Middle East before the world’s up-and-coming superpowers do.

Of course, President Obama’s election did not result in a policy change, making it obvious that the chain of command runs higher than the Bush neoconservative administration. As Glenn Greenwald described it:

…in the aftermath of military-caused regime change in Iraq and Libya…with concerted regime change efforts now underway aimed at Syria and Iran, with active and escalating proxy fighting in Somalia, with a modest military deployment to South Sudan, and the active use of drones in six — count ‘em: six — different Muslim countries, it is worth asking whether the neocon dream as laid out by Clark is dead or is being actively pursued and fulfilled, albeit with means more subtle and multilateral than full-on military invasions (it’s worth remembering that neocons specialized in dressing up their wars in humanitarian packaging: Saddam’s rape rooms! Gassed his own people!)

If the sleeping American giant is finally blinking its eyes and raising its bulbous head from its fluffy pillow, how desperate are the major world players to find a way to bonk that head back into a deep coma?

There are major deadlines to be met. Which is why you see the most egregious political players, like Lindsey Graham and John McCain, fear-mongering the general public, threatening nuclear attack from foreign nations if they, our wise leaders, do not get their way. It is the same pressure that possessed Nancy Pelosi to make shrill exclamations about blood being on the hands of any Senator who didn’t vote to renew the Patriot Act.

After all, these menace cowboys have helped invest America’s most vital assets and resources into the war machine, the surveillance society, and the burgeoning domestic police state with the justification of a constant terrorist threat looming anywhere it needs to be at any particular moment. And if our puppet politicians don’t continue to get their way, the intimidation of a whole range of fantastical terrorist threats will be levied against the American people until they acquiesce.
